Ferrari's triumphant return to the top of the endurance racing world is a story of dreams realized and legacies rekindled! After an incredible performance at the 8 Hours of Bahrain, the final race of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), Ferrari has clinched both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ titles. This victory marks a significant milestone, especially considering it's been 53 years since Ferrari last held a world title in this category.
The victory was truly a double celebration! The FIA World Endurance Drivers’ Championship was secured by the talented trio of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi, piloting the Ferrari – AF Corse 499P, number 51, who finished fourth in the race.
This historic achievement comes just three years after Ferrari's return to the pinnacle of endurance racing. Adding to the glory, the sister car, number 50, driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen, secured third place.
Ferrari Chairman John Elkann expressed his pride, stating, “This milestone fills us with pride and represents the fulfilment of a dream – the culmination of a journey we began in 2022, when we decided to return to the top class of endurance racing.” He highlighted the team's unity and dedication, emphasizing their continuous improvement in the face of endurance racing's demanding challenges.
This marks Ferrari's 24th world title in endurance racing, encompassing both overall and class wins since the FIA championship began in 1953. It's their ninth overall title, the first since their victory in the FIA World Championship for Makes in 1972 with the Ferrari 312 P, the sports prototype model that paved the way for the 499P in 2023.
This is also Ferrari's first overall Drivers’ title in the top class, a category they participated in until 1973, when only the Manufacturers’ title was awarded. For Pier Guidi and Calado, seasoned drivers in Ferrari's GT cars, this is their fourth drivers' crown, adding to their three LMGTE Pro class titles from 2017, 2021, and 2022.
In the FIA WEC, which started in 2012, this year's success is Ferrari's eighth Manufacturers’ title, their first overall. They previously won in the GT class in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2021, and 2022. The total of world Drivers’ titles now stands at six, with Ferrari drivers triumphing in the LMGTE Pro class in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2021, 2022, and 2025.
But here's where it gets controversial... This FIA WEC victory signifies the return of a World Manufacturers’ title to Maranello after 17 years, since the Ferrari F2008 secured the Formula 1 title in 2008. The last Drivers’ title was won by Kimi Räikkönen in 2007.
